Because we are a community that focuses on rescues, the USGN feels that breeding with morals is vital to protecting the welfare of all sugar gliders. Rescues should not be rescued to become breeders--but to get them out of a bad situation and give them love.

Rescues should never be bred for profit, and we prefer that male rescues be neutered to prevent unwanted gliders for the future.

Becoming a Sugar Glider Breeder?

Many of us that have fallen in love with sugar gliders decide to breed them so others may enjoy their specialness too. We all want to do this in the right way. We have added to our site documents and questionnaires that will help you become a responsible and licensed sugar glider breeder. In the forum, we have a section dedicated to our breeders, so that we may all learn and grow from each other’s experiences.

 Before you breed:

  • State Regulatory Agencies - a listing with all state agencies, including illegal states, as some of these will allow you to own them, providing a SPECIAL (and usually, expensive) educational permit.
  • Become a Certified Breeder!

We are currently looking for people of high moral and ethical fiber that want to become a part of the USGN Breeder Network.  An application will be posted soon, and in the meantime, read up on some of the requirements.
